Situation
Adult sibling Ratepayers inherited the property, but their addresses were unknown.
A debt recovery agency had tried to locate the Ratepayers unsuccessfully for 7 years.
The debt recovery agency took legal action, served Statements of Claim by Court Post to an address at which the Ratepayers could not receive them.
Judgment was entered and Bank Garnishees had collected $800 of the $40,000+ debt.

Resolution
The Ratepayers were located penniless & living apart in poor conditions.
Both Ratepayers were engaged in a supportive process and considerable effort was required to build understanding & trust. First one, then both Ratepayers advised they wished to sell the property.
A Real Estate Agent was located with a buyer and an offer acceptable to the Ratepayers and they were assisted to voluntarily sell property.
Very many unforeseeable complexities/obstacles arose e.g.

- The Ratepayers didn't attend a meeting with their solicitor as they found public transport too stressful so we collected each of them and delivered them to the meeting
- One Ratepayer had 3 different legitimate surnames, one on the birth certificate, another on the property title, and the third on the Medicare card, so we organised statutory declarations to satisfy the identification requirements of the conveyancing process.
